It was difficult at first to switch from a pixel based program to a vector based program, but now like Illustrator much better than Photoshop. It is resolution independent so you can enlarge and reduce the image and it won't pixelate making it much easier to recolor the design. I've found that I can do almost everything in Illustrator that I did in photoshop, but still use photoshop for some things like textures, scanning, printing and import, export to and from Illustrator.
Also clients are asking more and more for designs to be done in Illustrator since it is apparently more universally used than photoshop. Don't get discouraged learning it -- you will love working in it and will be a whiz in no time.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7592955915105393481.post-19126755879447410592010-02-12T17:44:53.303-06:002010-02-12T17:44:53.303-06:00Thanks SO much for the illustrator feedback. I did want to let you know that at a website called www.jessicasprague.com there is an illustrator class there by Carina Gardner - she might be a good person to ask about illustrator. http://www.jessicasprague.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.pbv.tabs.tpl&product_id=231&category_id=63&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=85

Might be worth a look-see? Just thought I'd pass that along. She might have some insight on it. I've heard good things about it.

Have a wonderful week! As a mom of a 3 year old boy who works in the creative field, it is so motivating to see you growing your business and family. I just wanted to quickly commnet on using illustrator. I am assuming you will be using this for designs and making CADS? If so, you are going to love it! I work for a children's clothing company here in Kansas City and design all of the floral fabrics we produce for our clothing. I exclusively use illustrator for designing and creating the repeat that I then use for communication with our fabric manufacturers. If you would like to see some examples of what you can do with illustrator, I would be more than happy to share a couple examples of my work. I don't have any formal training in textile desgin, but our customers seen to enjoy the fabric! You can email me at smillagrl@yahoo.com or smillagrl@gmail.com. Enjoy! Once you get the hang of the program, you will wonder how you ever managed without it.smillagrlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11014214694785358652noreply@blogger.com
