Today is a bitter sweet post. Over the holidays we lost our beloved dog Shrek. When we bought our house almost 5 years ago Shrek came along with it. (so did his name) His owners were moving to Hong Kong & the big trip would be too much for him. We were thrilled. He was our constant companion, going to the studio with us everyday. I often featured him in my art & just having him around gave us all a beautiful sense of calm. He was wonderful with our son Luca & we're sure that's why he's so fond of dogs. Shrek made it to 13 years & had a long we like to think had a nice long life. I know we enjoyed everyday we had with him. Thanks Shrek, You got your wings....I hope you're chasing a squirrel!

ohhh Jill i am so sorry. he looked like a fine dog
i'm sorry, Jill. but i'm happy he lived a long, good life. i love your collage tribute. i love the one of him flying. i'm sure he'll continue to be an inspiration in your art.
Oh... it's so tough losing an adored family dog -- I still remember my cute airedale named for Dennis the Menace after he dragged all the other puppies in the litter around the kennel by their ears. And yes, he lived up the his name all of his life.
Big hugs, Jill. I'm so sorry for you and your family's loss. Shrek looked like such a great friend and sweet dog. I have had many dogs in my life growing up that have passed away and it is never easy. The last family dog we had that died, I had to take 3 days off of work. Now we have a Maltese named Maggie and she is my little sidekick. She's turning 5 soon and it'll be a hard day when she passes away. They do become family. Thinking of you and praying for healing. More hugs...
I'm so sorry to hear that about Shrek. I've got a 13 year old lab now and it's tough to think of him not being around. Thinking of you!!
Dear Jill,
My heart breaks with you and your family. Shrek lived a good, happy life! Such a lucky guy. My Nicholas passed away 3 years ago at the age of 13 too. Shrek will see you one day at Rainbow Bridge. I love your drawings of him. Take care.
Shrek was the best anyone could have ever asked for in a dog. My condolences on such a bittersweet time.
Best,
Sarah Trover
Jill, Anthony and Luca,
I was thinking of Shrek this morning and did some searching and found this sad news - already a year old. Knowing his age was advancing, we have wondered about his health. He was such a wonderful sweet dog - even after 5 years, we think of him often.
We rescued Shrek from the pound and had two wonderful years with him before we moved to Hong Kong.
Reading this post makes us realize that our decision to leave him with your kind family, was the right one. Thank you so much for loving him and helping him enjoy his twighlight years.
Eric & E.J.
