I've always been a hopeless romantic.(in my own way) I don't watch soap operas or read the sappy love stories. (image of Fabio popping into my mind) I do however completely believe in the power of love. Having that right person is that cherry on top the sundae, the sprinkles on top of the cupcake, the first sparkle of a lightning bug in early summer, the bubbles in a hot bath. You get my point... That's my Antonio. Our anniversary is today & it gives me such happiness to know it all keeps getting better! The power of love. Wish I could bottle it. ( I would share)

Hope everyone is rested up from a great long weekend!
I'm getting excited for a visit next week with my brother & sister -n- law. She's pregnant with their first little one due early September. They're just thrilled & not finding out if it's a girl or boy. Which is so cool but I'm just too nosey - I had to know....(this is complicating my plans for nursery decor for them) I'll be working a birth announcements for a great stationary company soon & a baby scrape booking collection that will be downloadable at two peas in a bucket. I'm really feeling this newer painted pregnancy patch & think it will lend itself nicely to the upcoming projects. What a happy time pregnancy can be. So full of new promise, a fresh start, one big adventure. I'm so thrilled my art gets to be a small part of that!

Wow- what a trip. I don't recommend taking a toddler to a trade show. Poor thing he did his best but it was just too much. (Hey, some days it's too much for me!) We could only get him in the photo when he finally took a nap. The show went really well lots of new exciting opportunities. We found some great homes for some of the work. I always enjoy showing the collection. I went with a Jill McDonald mini city. We build a huge mural that incorporated many of the prints as our back drop this year. It was fun & different- years passed we've always done banners. Well, Now it's back at it more deadlines just around the corner.

On my walk down to the studio in the morning I've been admiring these beautiful poppies.
Got me thinking I don't have too many tropical prints in the collection. I consulted with our resident floral expert at the studio Liz. (or as Luca likes to call her Shay - who knows???) We came up with this. Pretty.....

So the Surtex preparation continues at the studio. We have tons of great new work & I'm always excited to show the collection. The trick is to have a variety of work. From seasonal, girls, boys, teen, florals, quirky conversationals & some more adult/ sophisticated prints. Myself & 2 designer that work with us (Liz & Tara) have been hard at it for the last two months reinvigorating the collection. I couldn't do it all by myself! (and relieved I don't have to anymore) Today a boy's airplane print that we did some collage work on together. Each taking on 3 planes then scanning it in, cleaning it up, building a bit more & adding some text.

Today I thought I'd show a growth chart I worked on for Oopsy Daisy. They wanted a growth chart for girls that had to do with dance. You'll have to zoom in to get all the details. It was fun to work on something ultra girly. I never took dance lessons my Mom had me in gymnastics so I had some difficulty with personal reference. (that always helps me with a project) That said I think it turned out nicely. My favorite level is the top yellow dance studio with the chandelier. Makes me happy.

Mothers day is right around the corner. Being a Mom now I have a whole new respect for the role. Wow- it's a LOT of work. I think Mom's deserve more than a day how about their own week! (on an island by themselves) So don't forget be nice to Mom- She loves you.
On that note on with the art. I did the funny paintings of Grandma's a while ago it was something for fun I quickly did in my sketchbook. I always like older names. All the ladies are either my grandma's or friends. (& those are their names) The blooming bellies piece is older too but completely appropriate for today's post. Happy Mothers Day!

This is a fun new piece that I'll be taking to Surtex. (in just about 2 weeks) This show seems like it sneaks up on me every spring! The birds in this piece ended up having a Norwegian feel. I liked all the patterned details. Liz, a designer at our studio did most of the work on this one. We just bought a printer the prints on fabric. This piece will definitely be printed on fabric. I can see it as bedding or wall paper hmmmm that would be fun!
