I Think I Can...

I Knew i Could!

The power of self belief.  A nice note to leave 2015 on!

I made this as a personal piece when I was going through a very trying time.
Eventually, I added it to my Etsy shop with little expectation. Today this piece has become the top seller in my Etsy shop.  Funny how life works!

Yoga is a gift!

Stress is something I'm always trying to successfully manage in my life.  A couple years ago I started faithfully doing yoga & it's really helped me.  Like someone hitting my reset button!  It reminds me it's OK to feel the good & the bad, to breathe guiding me back to who I want to show up as in the world.

And So it Begins....

Today I'm decking the halls!
This will be the first year in our new house & we are thrilled about that.
Such a pretty, cool house to begin with-
I can't wait to see it with lots of twinkly white lights & a big tree!
The art I'm showing is from the printmaking class I'm in.
Intaglio prints that I then painted back into with my favorite, gouache.

Printmaking

I went to my 2nd printmaking class earlier this week.  Linoleum block prints.
side note: This is how I lost feeling in my left pointer finger in high school, accidentally gouging the carving tool into it.  OUCH!
You can imagine my trepidation about revisiting this method.

Took the carving slow & steady leaving the class band aid free!
*still not my favorite way to make a print but good to know I can do it without hurting myself...

I can see the above in shades of green with a few red pops as Christmas wrap.

Hard for me to leave any meeting, phone call or waiting room with out doodling a flower or two!

This one is how I feel about Friday!
Cheers to the weekend...

I'm now represented by Jennifer Nelson Artist!
I think this will be a great fit & I'm really excited to
see how this next chapter goes.  Having someone as kind, generous & smart as
Jennifer better shine a light on what I can do is such a great opportunity.
*Not to mention a perfect chance to share this journey with her other AMAZING artist!

Thought it was a perfect fit for today!

Monotypes

I started taking a print making class last night.  It's a continuing education class through the Kansas City Art Institute.  This class appealed to me as in the description it talked about print making at home with out a press.  I loved print making in art school but having access to all the equipment isn't realistic now.  This offered a nice alternative.  The first picture is some of what I made last night.  The first class was about monoprinting .

This little experiment was on of my favorites.
(I added the words later on)

This "waves" print is more of  a typical monoprint.
I loved how I was never quite sure what the print would look like until it was done.

The next class will cover block carving so stay tuned for more!

Growing on GREEN!

I've been into green lately.  I love this ground color.  Feels like it could work in any season.  This may be my subconscious at work.  Knowing that soon most the green around me will be gone.  Until then I'm soaking it all up!

Sunshine Shower

I hosted a baby shower for my sister n law over the weekend.

With any good shower there was food...

games & ...

GIFTS!
My sister in law has a contemporary aesthetic which I tried to accommodate with the
wall art I made for the nursery.  I found the wonderful plush sun mobile at Hallmarket a couple weeks ago.  Made by the talented pureandthimble.tumblr.com
Here's to hoping little Adaline is filled with sunshine!

*Top 2 photo's taken by my friend Gigi!
She makes cool embroidered things.
She takes the best picks of the shiny & vintage items that catch her eye.
you can see more of that here:

Folksy Birds on Green

This is an old piece in one of my sketchbooks.  Thought it felt appropriate for today!
(painted with gouache, messy stripe on the right side)

MEOW!

Happy Friday!

*side fact:  Cat's are my kryptonite.  They make my eyes swell up like giant gummy bears.
You won't hear me say "Here Kitty, Kitty!"

Because of this I rarely draw them.
