Studio in the Sky

We moved in mid February to our new house. (felt appropriate it was right before Valentines Day!)
Antonio helped design my studio space that's on the third floor.  He kept in mind all my needs.
-Lots of light
-Big windows
-tall ceilings
-a lovely city view
(I'm right across from my favorite building Kauffman Performing Arts Center in K.C.)

I'm so happy in my new studio space.  I started working out of my dad's office basement for 3 years so I'm so grateful for the beautiful space I have today!

P.S. Yes, I work standing.  Occasionally, I sit when I paint.
The big draft table was my dad's when he started his graphic design business 40 years ago.
I'm nostalgic.

Here you can see the Kauffman Center
This is the beautiful building up close.  I love to see the ballet here!

My twinkly night view.

Move in day.  Lots of space!

Food Trucks

Here we are again friends... Friday!

Thought this would be a fun post for today.
I'm working on a committee at Luca's school for teacher appreciation week.
One day we have a food truck coming to school to provide a free lunch for all the teachers.
How cool is that!  Made this piece in my sketchbook.  Think my favorite is the lobster mobile.
How funny would it be to see that coming down the street?

Earth Day

One World to Explore &  r e s p e c t!
Love having the opportunity to make art for kids around this VERY important matter.
Each of us doing our part to be responsible citizens of the world.

Spring in the Forest

Painted a new piece yesterday.  Love the forest, growing up we had a big one behind our house.  I used to wander & look for wild flowers while my 3 brothers built forts in the woods.  Yes, those were the days kids spent their days outside.  Now the forest behind my parents house is full of apartments.

After I paint a piece like this I hand it over to Antonio.  He spends about a day separating it into layers for me.  Then I get the art back layered & keep building on top of it digitally.  A labor of love but it's how we spend our days around here.

Happy Friday!
